
Registration open for September's Nanyuki rally

The cap for entries has been put at 50 drivers
The Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) will head to Nanyuki on 2 and 3 September for the sixth leg, following a successful Safari Rally which served as the fifth edition of the national series.
Registration for the Nayuki leg of the nine-leg national series opened on Wednesday 17 August with drivers set to clash for championship points in the various classes.
Entries for the rally close on 25 August at noon, while late entrants (who pay an extra fee) have until 31 August 9am to register. Scrutineering is set for 2 September in Nanyuki with Rally proper running the following day.

The rally is 215.20km long with a liaison distance of 62.16km leaving 153.04 km of competitive distance which will be covered in six special stages. Crews will cover the distance in three special stages repeated.
SS1 is a 28.23 km stretch at Mlima Hema with a liaison distance of 0.52km while SS2 is the longest run of 40.69 km at Ole Naishu with liaison distance of 14.74 km to the next competitive stage.
The third and final stage of the first loop is the 7.60 km Greystone stretch with a transport distance of 0.96km to complete the morning loop. The sections will be repeated in the afternoon.

Up for grabs are points towards the 2022 KNRC national drivers and co-driver championship, Group N, Division One, Division Two, Division Three, Classic Class (C), Supplementary Class (S), Two Wheel Drive, Specially Prepared Vehicles Class (SPV) and National Rally T4 Cross Country Cars (SSV/UTV).
Karan Patel leads the overall standings on 135 points, one ahead of second-placed Jasmeet Chana in a tight contest at the helm.
There is a huge Rift between the duo and the rest of the contestants with third-placed Kush Patel having gunnered 54 points from three finished in the five events held so far.
Two-wheel drive ace Leo Varese is fourth on the overall log at 51 points while Maxine Wahome completes top five places on 46 points from the Equator rally and the Safari.
